Conversation Topics

As you may have heard, we've all been living in a pandemic, so, for a while there, we couldn't really go out and have social lives.

With a guest list boasting nearly 15 invitees, The 24/7 Party is, understandably, set to become the social event of the millennium—a place to see and be seen, for the first time in more than 16 months.

But with the stakes so high, what are we, the people who haven't been to social events all this time, supposed to do? How do we talk to people not over Zoom/WebEx/Teams/Chatroulette, especially when we can't "turn our camera off" in person while we're not talking?

Fear not—we're here to help.

Here's a list of some conversation topics for tomorrow evening, in case you get stuck without anything to say:

  • Who is the best non-Tony character on The Sopranos, and why is it Furio?

  • Crimp

  • "So, where are you from?"

    • and then you share an anecdote about how you've never been there specifically, but you have been to another city in that state

      • ex. "Oh, you're from Charleston? I went to Clemson once!"

        • ed. note: distance between cities = 248 miles

  • Compare impressions of Moira Rose saying "bebe"

  • [point toward one corner of the roof] "Heck of a garden they've got there"

    • and if someone uses this line before you, counter with: [pointing anywhere in the raised bed] "Is that bibb lettuce over there?"

  • Whether Tokyo should be hosting the Olympics while Japan has a 23.3% vaccination rate

  • Why the worst people succeed the most on Blown Away

    • Looking at you, Deborah, and possibly Chris

      • we haven't finished season 2 yet

  • "So they're both from the same town, and they didn't know each other before this?"
